Say whats good to Banish, another young gunner in the game making his mark on the music today. With a style of his own ,He's not afraid to be himself in a game full of copy cats. This cat is another breath of fresh air.I caught up with him and heres what happened.YOUR WELCOME...........YOUR ALL WELCOME!
1.FOR THOSE THAT DONT KNOW WHAT LABEL OR GROUP ARE YOU SIGNED TO PRESENTLY?
No group, No label
2. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT HIP HOP AS A WHOLE?
I can't ever be mad at "hip hop" as a music or a culture because it's ever changing and very diverse now, it will never be what it was in the"Golden Era" and it will always be different in the future. There's hip hop music good and bad now same as it's always been, there's plenty of good music to find if you look for it, all depends on your taste, there's so many different genres and branch's I think there's something for everyone. I love hip hop and the music I make regardless of what anyone else is doing.
3.HOW DO YOU FELL ABOUT NEW YORK HIP HOP RIGHT NOW?i MEAN ITS KINDA ALL OVER THE PLACE.wHATS YOUR TAKE ON IT,AND WHERE YOU SEE IT GOING
I think because N.Y. is the birthplace of the culture there's a certain arrogance to the style that makes it dope, but because of that almost every dope rapper from N.Y. thinks their "run'n" New York, I've always grown up way more influenced by rap from the East Coast for some reason it's just what I was drawn to, pry cause being from the West most of what I was hearing was gangster rap music and even though I liked that as well it wasn't true to my style I was into Grafitti and more of the culture as a whole, I think N.Y. does and always will have incredible talent, It's in their blood. It's weird to me to see how influenced they've been by the south recently since that movement got so popular, I'd think they would stay more rooted in their ways than caught up in other trends, slang etc... I see N.Y. goin back to some real filthy hardcore shit again in the next 5-10 years. New York's always produced the majority of my favorite hip hop music.
4. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT MIXTAPES
Mixtapes are cool, I've never been a big fan of rapping on unoriginal material but it went through an undeniable faze of being prominent, it makes perfect sense for emcees who have a strong buzz and are working on an album and there's fans that want to hear them on whatever the hot new shit is, I think it's pointless for someone to do a mixtape on everybody's dope beat when nobody's checkin for them, it's a waste. By the time people hear it the beats old. It's a good
promotional tool for an artist who is making noise and fans want to hear, it seems like it's been fading out for a while now.
5.DO YOU THINK THE INTERNET IS DESTROYING HIP HOP LIKE MANY COMPLAIN ABOUT
No, I feel like the Internet is a tool and can be very useful but it's a double edged sword, has it over saturated the world of music with kids that aren't ready to be releasing music because it's so easy now Yes, on the other hand personally I've been able to reach people interested in hearing my music all across the globe that may not have easily had the opportunity to do so. The Internet is also a way to network and make money since it destroyed record sales, you have to roll with the punches of technology and use it to your advantage.
6.HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT WHERE YOU ARE IN YOUR CAREER AND WHERE DO YOU WANNA TAKE IT?
I feel like I spent a good amount of time being patient and waiting to polish my skills before I decided to release music, I feel like I'm ready and just getting started. I want to take it as far as I can,I've always done it because I love to do it which is important but ultimately I want to consistently make money for my work. I believe you get back what you put in, I see myself making music until I'm no longer passionate about it, and even then I would pry try and help or mentor a talent from the next generation.
7.FAV. BIGGIE JOINT AND WHY?
"The Warning" that track just takes me to that time, the way he's having a conversation with himself on the song and the story is signature BIG, and the beat is nasty 90's boom bap!
8.FAV. PAC JOINT AND WHY?
"Ambitions of a Ridah" for me the music is everything, you could be saying the dopest shit ever over a horrible beat and I won't wanna listen, this beat is filthy and this is my favorite Pac style where he was jus spitting hard and not over exaggerating words too much.
9. SANNA LATHAN OR NIA LONG?
They both a lil old for my taste Nia's cool, never dig'n the short haircut's she be rock'n though, I'll go Sanna but neither would make my top 50
10. BALD BUSH OR NEATLY TRIMMED
No bush! Bald or neatly trimmed just make it sexy.
11.TOP 5 MC'S
(All Time) Rakim, Kool G Rap, Chuck D, Ice Cube, Krs-One (my favorite era) Nas, Big Pun, Redman, B.I.G., Mos Def (Right now) Em, Busta (could be in my fav era category), Crooked I, Royce, Joell (Groups)Wu-Tang, Boot Camp Mobb Deep
12.ANY THOUGHTS TFOR THE PEOPLE THAT THINK HIP HOP IS ALL NEGATIVE
There's positive and negative in everything, it's all what you choose to focus on.
13. TOP 5 ARTIST YOU WOULD LIKE TO WORK WITH
When I think of artists I'd want to work with I think about a studio vibe and the music as opposed to what rapper I would want to collaborate on a song with, that being said Rick Ruben, The Roots, Rza, Dre, Damian Marley
14.WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM YOU IN THE FUTURE?
Consistency, we're always working on new stuff weather it's collaborations or personal music, I like to work outside of the box sometimes but I stay true to not doing anything I feel is wack, so you can expect to not hear some trendy sell out trying hard to be something I'm not to make a buck type shit, debut album "Dredgar Cayce" releasing later this year featuring guest appearances by, Beenie Man, Crooked I, Rakaa, Ill Bill, Outerspace, Reef the lost Cauze, Demoz, Block McCloud and a few others, production by, Snowgoons, Sicknature, MTK, Vherbal, Aims, DJ Rybe, King Jahzzy, ManyBeats and more. It may seem like a lot of features on the album but being that it's my first release I needed to stir up some attention, I made sure to keep the album half and half. Many of the guests are on the same songs so I am holding down several songs by myself, I understand people see a lot of features and assume it's a compilation album, it's not.
15. LASTLY WHERE CAN A DJ CONTACT YOU AND WHAT DO YOU WANNA SAY TO ANY NEW FAN AND SUPPORTERS
