Documents on Emory Jones

jay-z

The Smoking Gun dug up some court docs. leading back to last year involving Jay-Z and his friend Emory Jones, who was sentenced to 16 years in prison after pleading guilty to a cocaine trafficking charge in January 2000. His sentence was eventually cut short by 37 months, but before that happened Jay wrote a letter to the judge essentially saying that Emory was a good and smart person, enough to have a job waiting for him at one of Jay’s companies when he got out of prison.

Another interesting tidbit:

In April, when Jones was released from the federal lockup in Otisville, New York, Carter’s Maybach was reportedly waiting for him at the prison gate.

Usually I wouldn’t bother posting this sort of personal documents, but it’s pretty much a part of popular culture after Jay described this scenario, basically word for word, on “Do You Wanna Ride” and it’s mostly just interesting seeing it come to life.

This is also a great “leak” considering Decoded came out this week.

Started from the crates now I’m sittin on a whole case
Since they got you sittin on that old case
Our dreams is on hold like Tivo
So I can’t wait ’til you get your date
I got some temp plates outside of the gate
